Pere Calders’ work to be played as a concert in 2014 Grec Festival

Performing.  Barcelona, 30/07/2014

Pere Calder’s short novel Aquí descansa Nevares (1967) changes the usual sheets of paper to Teatre Grec’s stage in Barcelona. After leading the musical adaptation, director Ignasi Roda presents now the same story as a concert in the framework of the Grec Festival that’s being held in the Catalan capital. With only one performance, the show will be played on July 30 at 10 pm.

Teatre Grec and Sílvia Produccions present Nevares Concert, a show written and composed by Ignasi Roda that will count on the participation of over 60 performers on stage. 8 solo singers, headed by Mone Teruel and Marc Pujol, will be joined by 18 chorus singers and the Symphonic Orchestra of Sant Cugat del Vallès.

In press conference on July 25, Roda told that Calders’ work, with a surrealistic touch, is part of the Catalan writer’s Mexican period. Aquí descansa Nevares is the story of a poor area and its inhabitants, who decide to use a cemetery’s mausoleums as home. Roda’s musical adaptation has been well received by the Calders family.

Only one performance on July 30
