Sant Jordi / St George is celebrated both in England and Catalonia. In recognition of this, Catalan Government organisations and friends join up once again with London Borough Market to present a festive day of food, arts, roses and books on Sunday 27 April from 12pm to 4pm. Riverside Bookshop will be there for the second year running with a book stall with translations of Catalan literature.

In celebration of Catalonia's "Diada de Sant Jordi" and Shakespeare's Birthday, Clara Sanabras presents a pre-launch event at the The Forge in Camden Town in association with independent promoter The LocalThe special guest for the night will be this year's BBC Folk Awards winner, Lisa Knapp.

On the occasion of the 10th World Book Fest, Catalan crime writer and police scientist Marc Pastor and Valencian singer-songwriter Pau Alabajos will participate in this annual celebration from 22 to 26 April. Writer and journalist Alannah Hopkin is this year’s guest curator.

Barcelona based La Sra. Tomasa bring their captivating experiments to London with traditional Latin styles like Timba, Salsa, and Guaguancó mashed up with floor-filling Rumba Catalana, Reggae, Funk and Hip Hop. For the second gig, at Hootananny, DJ OGT from Lleida will wrap up the night with his mix of Rumba, Cumbia, Electro-Latin and Tropical Beats. Organised by UK based promoters Movimentos.

Award-winning Catalan playwright Josep Maria Miró's latest play, Archimedes' Principle, will be opening at the Park Theatre on 15 April. Lee Knight and Julian Sims starr in this brilliant production by Foxtrotter Theatre Company. 'How safe are our children in the care of a stranger? How much do we know about the people we work with? How far would we go to protect ourselves?...'

Marinah presents her new project ‘El Baile de las Horas’ for the first time in the UK. Marinah’s new sound combines some elements from her earlier life as singer of Ojos de Brujo but also a new softness in her voice and a fresh sense of positivity in her music and lyrics. Marinah’s concert in London is part of The London Latin Music Festival La Línea

Catalan guitarrist Maria Camahort's Quintet performs a concert featuring composers Mompou, Gasull, Chano Domínguez, De Falla, Garcia Lorca and Piazzolla at St James's Church Picadilly. The group including Pablo Domínguez, Violeta García, Laura Ruhí and Sergio Serra have previously played at prestigious venues like St Martin-in-the-Fields and Southbank Centre.

Institut Ramon Llull will take part in The London Book Fair this year where we present Catalan literature from classics to exciting new authors to UK and international publishers. Attendance at such fairs is one of the most important professional activities of the IRL in support of our mission to promote Catalan language and culture abroad. Just last year nine new translations were published in the UK and thirteen titles are in the pipeline for this year. You can see the fruit of our ongoing collaborative endeavours with authors, editors, translators, agents and publishers at the Sant Jordi celebration at Borough Market

You can now enrol for Catalan language tests in 14 universities in the UK and Ireland and receive a formal qualification for your level. The Catalan language certificates awarded by the Institut Ramon Llull correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Enrolment until 7 April 2014.

'Every step we take, we are trying to reach paradise. Our paradise' 

Catalan company Atresbandes come back to the UK with their new show Locus Amoenus. 

Their previous play 'Solfatara' was awarded First Prize and Audience Prize at Be Festival 2013 and was shortlisted for the Total Theatre Award at the Edinburgh Fringe 2013. Solfatara was also presented at RADAR in association with Bush Theatre last year. The critically acclaimed theatre company will perform at MAC in Birmingham, Slunglow in Leeds and Gift Festival, Gateshead from 30 April to 3 May.
