The concert that Concha Buika will give on 23rd March at Bogotá’s bullring is one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the 12th Ibero-American Theatre Festival of Bogotá. This biannual celebration has invited Catalonia and the Balearic Islands as guests of honour, with a programme organized by the Institut Ramon Llull in which Buika’s concert is one of the star events.
The Catalan language will be present at the Lille language fair, which will take place on 19th and 20th March with over a hundred exhibitors. The Institut Ramon Llull will have a stand at the event with information about Catalan language and culture and the universities where Catalan can be learnt: The Charles de Gaulle University – Lille 3 and the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale.
On 19th March, the playwright Carles Batlle and the critic Fabrice Corrons will give a talk at the Lumière University Lyon II entitled “Creators and their critics: manipulating and transgressing”. The event is part of the 2nd International Colloquium, which takes place from 19th to 21st March, and Batlle’s participation has been supported by the Institut Ramon Llull
The Catalan theatre companies Señor Serrano and Roger Bernat have been invited to perform at the Hybrides Festival in Montpellier. The festival is now in its second year, and runs from 27th March to 2nd April. Both companies have received the support of the Institut Ramon Llull.
The Majorcan musician and poet Sebastià Sansó will give a seminar-workshop on Wednesday, 17th March as part of the events organized by the University of Saint-Étienne for Le Printemps des Poètes, the Poets’ Spring festival. The seminar is mainly aimed at students of Catalan at the university, which offers Catalan language courses that are managed by the Institut Ramon Llull.
The 14th edition of the Spanish Cinema Biennale is being held in Annecy from 13th to 23rd March. It is an important event for the film sector in France, and Catalan cinema will be heavily represented. Catalan Films & Television and the Institut Ramon Llull are collaborating with the festival.

Last Wednesday evening, the Majorcan writer Carme Riera gave a lecture on "The island as a legend: Majorca" at Berlin's Cervantes Institute.

On Friday, 5th March, the Institut Ramon Llull and Gandia City Council signed a collaboration agreement for the organization of a series of cultural and literary events to mark the 500th anniversary of the birth of Francesc Borja. To commemorate the occasion, Gandia City Council has planned a series of cultural events to celebrate the work of the Borja family, and which will feature an important number of Catalan, Valencian and Majorcan artists and intellectuals.
